Marketplace Christians with the spiritual gift of intercessory prayer intercede before God on behalf of their companies and the people with whom they work.
Amy Everette is the Chief Prayer Officer of Marketplace ROCK, a consulting company that prays for business executives and their companies while teaching these executives how to intercede on behalf of their companies. One of her clients reported,
Marketplace ROCK intercessors have been a blessing to me for the past three years. Their prayers and spiritual guidance have helped me develop a clearer understanding of my God’s purpose and assignment for my life and business. They have also given me an increased sense of peace and confidence in knowing that my business, ministry and family are covered in prayer. One evening, our MROCK intercessor felt especially led to pray for one of my six children. The next morning, that child (my son) had an accident with a chain saw that looked horrible but turned out to be very minor thanks to God’s protection and the obedience of our intercessors to pray for us by name. I have also seen many answers to our prayers for my business including a $12,000 bonus from one of our vendors that unexpectedly showed up one week after we had prayed for a way to cover a $12,000 withdrawal from our line of credit to cover payroll.
Another one of her clients, a business executive in Boulder, Colorado shared,
Business intercession has been an integral part of our organization for nearly three years. Our initial purpose of having an intercessor [Amy] on our team was to help integrate our faith with our business. As a business owner, I am constantly faced with making strategic business decisions for our company. Having a team of intercessors to hear what God is saying about HIS plan for our company is invaluable to us. When you know HIS plan and what season your company is in, strategic decisions become easier to make. We believe that our intercessory team is our unfair advantage, the competitive edge that helps us grow in an industry where many are shrinking. Through recessionary times and corporate challenges, or times of acceleration and growth, our intercessory team is key to the success of our business.”[i]
